Feng Shui Fountains

Feng Shui is one of the hottest things to happen to the decor world. The latest addition to this is Feng Shui fountains that is not only a beautiful piece of decor but also an important Feng Shui element. Whether it is Feng Shui for homes or office it is a must have through out the world. Most of us are not fully aware how this Fengshui works, but yet likes to do some simple things to bring prosperity and happiness in our world. Feng Shui is basically based on five elements: metal, earth, water, fire and wood. The work of these five elements is to create a harmonized environment around you. In this section we will talk about the water element and how we can incorporate it in our decor style.

A Feng Shui fountain in your decor is one of the easiest ways to incorporate the water element in your world. Having Feng Shui fountains are very beneficial. The flow of water increases the amount of positive chi in a room, leading to overall prosperity. Not to mention fountains are always a wonderful way to add to any type of decorating style.

Where to Put the Feng Shui Fountain?

One of the best places to put the Feng Shui fountain is near a door. But while placing the fountain, one has to take care that the water should be flowing towards the door and not away from it. The reason behind this is, flow of water indicates prosperity. If the flow of water is towards the door it will bring prosperity in your life, however it flows away from the door it will take away all prosperity. Putting a fountain at the front door, especially if the door faces north, east or southeast is very profitable for the house. But remember, while placing this fountain it should never be on the right side of the front door as you look out of the house. This is said to cause extramarital affairs for the man of the house.

Benefits from Feng Shui Fountains

Feng Shui water fountains have many benefits other than the source of prosperity. To say it simply, water fountains helps clean the air around you. For this one of the most important aspects is to have clean water that is flowing regularly. Stagnant and dirty water is worse than not having a fountain at all. Also many people ask the question that whether it matters what the fountain is made of like stone, copper, earthen etc. well as a matter of fact it does. One of the best options is to go for copper fountains, as copper makes the water stronger. But other than copper fountains one can also go for earthen fountains. Mostly all houses that have outdoor Feng Shui fountains have them in marble or stone. So if this is the case with you as well, then go for large quantities of water.

Feng Shui Fountains or Aquarium?

This is a common confusion faced by many of us. Whether you go for Feng Shui water fountain or an aquarium both are equally good. The major difference between a water fountain and aquarium is the way in which the water flows in it. Another common misconception is that the number and size of fish in the tank determines the effectiveness of the aquarium. Fish only play one major role and that is adding movement to the aquarium. However if you have eight orange goldfishes or one black one then it is supposed to be lucky according to Feng Shui experts. Moving water is good for career and wealth. But this doesnít mean that you have both an aquarium and a water fountain, especially in one room.

Some Doís and Doníts

  • Do select a water fountain that is large enough to hold water for a day or two, so that you are not hassled with refilling it time and again.
  • Do keep the water in the fountain clean, clear and flowing.
  • Do place your water fountain in the north side of the house or living room.
  • Do have a Feng Shui fountain in the east or southeast side of the house, as these directions are compatible with north that is the direction of water.
  • Donít have a water fountain in your bedroom as this can lead to health problems like breathing, colds etc.
  • Donít put a water fountain in a place where you can hear it from the place you sleep. Close the door of the bedroom so as the sound doesnít reach you.
  • Donít place a Feng Shui fountain in the bathroom. It is seriously not required there.
  • Donít ever have a fountain under a stairway. This can lead to illness and other problems for your children.
  • Donít put a water fountain directly below a bedroom. Sleeping over water is not at all good.

To gain all benefits of Feng Shui change the ambience of your home and try to balance the five elements. Add scented candles, flowers and even basic cooking to give your home a live in and personalized feel.
